China's total cotton imports recorded 440,900 tons in August and September, representing an ascent of 108.31 percent, year on year. China is expected to produce 7.04 million tons of cotton according to August forecast of National Cotton Market Monitoring System.

Actual demand gap stood at 4.19 million tons in the 2009-10 cotton season, but actual imports were small, due to which domestic cotton stock substantially declined, thus, demand gap is expected to reach 4.4 million tons in the new 2010-11 cotton season.
