Gas shedding leads to closure of textile units for two days

Around 380 CNG stations in Faisalabad region remained closed due to temporary slash in gas distribution on 14th November. Textile processing units, printing mills, sizing factories as well as foundries are likely to remain close for two consecutive days, starting from today, owing to the cut off in gas supply.
According to the All Pakistan Cotton Powerlooms Association (APCPA), over 50,000 looms have been shut down till now owing to the extended power and gas crises. Several other looms are operating in a single shift in order to reduce the power and gas consumption.
While speaking to the news correspondents, Acting Regional Chairman of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association – Mian Ajmal Farooq, asserted that the Federal Ministers decided for gas shedding for one day for industries. But the administration and SNGPL did not keep their words. Demand for gas has been low in almost all the industrial units on Sunday, the 14th November. Low gas pressure is likely to impair the machinery in the textile processing sector.
