Solution for closed textile firm in the offing
Nov '10
Recently, Robert Schunk – the Minister of Production met the employees of the textile company Copy SA, which had been non-functional for almost a year. He gave an assurance to the workers to find a solution for the problem. He also promised to organize a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Agriculture's Office in order to find a workable option in that direction.

The employees, accompanied by their lawyers, had discussed the state of affairs at the meeting. The employees of the manufacturing unit had organized a labor union to secure the company and enable it to operate once more.

The factory owners had completely neglected the debt obligations for electricity and gas bills that had accumulated. But these problems needed to be resolved as soon as possible in order to carry out with the production work.

The meeting considered various ways to resolve the challenges. The Minister had also put forward a few alternatives and explained how these could be put in to practice. He also gave some instances of the successful implementation of some of these alternatives in other companies in Argentina.

The minister did not rule out the prospect of this venture turning productive aiming at further value addition. This would also help in maintaining the source of livelihood for the people employed there.
