Bernardo Gradin announces succession plan at Braskem

BRASKEM S.A., the leading thermoplastic resin producer in the Americas, announces its corporate succession plan.

Bernardo Gradin, the CEO, has announced the succession plan for his leadership in 2011. Carlos Fadigas, currently the head of Braskem America, has been identified as his successor in the Company.

Braskem concluded its strategy of consolidating the Brazilian market, established a strong international presence and global leadership in biopolymers, with the highlights being the acquisitions of Quattor and the polypropylene business of the U.S. company Sunoco Chemicals, the progress in the Ethylene XXI project in Mexico and the inauguration of the first green polyethylene plant in September this year.

The succession plan is prompted by Braskem's constant improvement of its governance practices, always guided by transparency and respect to stakeholders.

The nomination of Carlos Fadigas will be submitted to the Board of Directors in 2011.

Braskem is the leading thermoplastic resin producer in the Americas. With 31 industrial plants in Brazil and the United States, Braskem produces annually over 15 million tons of thermoplastic resins and other petrochemical products.
