Federal govt optimistic about restoring textile industry

The Federal Government's efforts aimed at the restoration of the country's textile sector, with the introduction of the N100 billion revival funds, have started materializing as the northern-based United Nigeria Textiles Limited (UNTL) which was in a dilapidated condition till now, has started recovering.
Alhaji Namadi Sambo, Vice President, Olusegun Aganga, Minister of Finance and Commerce and Industry Minister, Chief Martins Kuye, were among the bigwigs who were present at the re-launching of the UNTL. The government has made an appeal to the firm to commence its production immediately.
The Vice President, while speaking at the occasion, said that the revival of UNTL is looked upon as an initiative leading towards the revitalization of other textile firms, which are presently re-equipping themselves with the revival funds under the observation of Bank of Industry (BOI).
Sambo, who instructed the BOI officials to ensure about revitalization of all the ailing factories, said that he hopes the Kaduna Textiles Limited (KTL), which was shut down some time back, too will be provided with the assistance required to revive it and restart its production.
