Textile sector creates second largest new job opportunities

The targets fixed for exports of textiles & clothing during the last three years, the current year, and achievements thereof are given below:
This information was given by the Minister of State for Textiles, Smt. Panabaaka Lakshmi in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha to a question raised by Shri Dhiraj Prasad Sahu.
The Minister further stated that there are no reports of textile workers facing problems as a result of recession in the textiles sector. In fact, as per a survey carried out by the Labour Bureau of the Ministry of Labour & Employment, the textiles sector has generated 1.52 lakh employment opportunities, the second largest for any sector in the country, between June 2009 and June 2010.
