China's exports of silk goods registered US $2.592 billion from January to October, an increase of 10.51 percent year on year, largely being driven by overall hike in export price, according to statistics from China Customs.
Exports to major markets realized overall growth, of which, exports to Italy achieved the largest increase of 34.86 percent. The five top export markets of silk merchandise
were the United States, India, Italy, Japan and Hong Kong.
Main exports to Italy were gray silk fabric, the value of which accounted for 48.84 percent, silk garments accounted for 24.11 percent and proportion of other silk commodities stood at 16.48 percent.
Export price of primary silk commodities rose more than 13 percent. Only those of silk garments declined by 6.33 percent, while those of gray silk fabrics increased 32.68 percent. The large increase in exports to Italy, was mainly due to the low base in the previous year.
From January to October, raw silk exports touched 15,600 tons, down 15.49 percent year on year; average unit price was US $ 32.03 / kg, an increase of 44.31 percent year on year.
Exports of silk fabrics marked 219 million meters, an increase of 2.49 percent year on year; average unit price was US $ 3.55 / meter, a rise of 21.62 percent year on year.
Exports of silk garments reached 65.79 million sets, down 10.1 percent year on year, average unit price was US $ 13.96 / set, up 5.67 percent year on year.
