China imported 126,000 tons of cotton in November; an increase of 30,000 tons compared with October, but was up 11.8 percent, when compared over the same period of last year.
Average import price continued to rise sharply to US $2,356 / ton, an increase of US $225 or 10.6 percent compared with October.
Cotton imports from Uzbekistan surpassed imports from the United States, thus Uzbekistan became the largest source of China's imports in November.
From January-November 2010, China's cotton imports reached 2.37 million tons in total, an exponential increase of 81.4 percent year on year.
In the first three months of cotton year 2010-11, China's total imports fetched 423,000 tons, an increase of 26.8 percent year on year.
