Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic said that the textile industry, in addition to automotive and electrical industry, will be one of the fastest growing industries in the Serbian economy.

During his visit to the factory for production of underwear and socks Calzedonia, Dacic expressed satisfaction with the fact that this factory will employ 650 workers instead of 400 as announced before.

He said that he was told by Calzedonia leadership that this Italian company plans to export goods worth €5 million next year and €8 million in 2012.

The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that Calzedonia received incentives worth €2,000 per employee and that he attended the laying of the cornerstone for this factory in 2006.

Calzedonia plans to build a new factory in Serbia in 2012, Dinkic said and added that it will be able to count on even higher incentives, as well as all other producers that open more than one factory.

Director of Calzedonia factory Aida Dilkic said that this plant employs 320 workers and that new 20 to 40 people are employed every month from the list of the National Employment Service.

The plan is to employ 500 workers by May and 650 by the end of next year, she said.

Dinkic also visited the Zastava Specialni Automobili special cars plant, accompanied by representatives of Italian company Stola from Turin, which is interested in starting production in Serbia.

He pointed out that the company Stola deals with the production of parts for special vehicles, and pointed out that the company would be a good strategic partner for the Sombor factory.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that Stola produces components for Italian Fiat and did the design for the new cars that will be produced in Kragujevac.

Daily contacts with the manufacturers of components that want to participate in the production of new models in Serbia are underway, the Minister noted.
