According to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan imported 2,401,688 kilolitres (1,654,586 tons) of naphtha for its petrochemical sector during the month of November this year, which is 29 percent above the imports of 1,861,425 kilolitres (1,283,200 tons) during corresponding month last year.
With the growth in imports, a simultaneous rise has also been noted in the price of the commodity, which grew from 39,599 yen ($634.3) per kilolitre in November last year to 42,100 yen ($750.9) per kilolitre in November this year.
Also, the country imported 2,260,294 kilolitres (1,563,280 tons) of naphtha during October, 2010 at a price of 40,459 yen ($701.3) per kilolitre.
