Textile exports shoot up in Nov

The month of November in 2010, saw textile exports portraying substantial growth, which greatly boosted the overall exports of the country during the period. As per the latest statistics of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), textile exports registered a rise of 19.85 percent during the period to grow to $1.107 billion as against $850 million during corresponding period in 2009.

Meanwhile, cotton yarn exports too continued to triumph during the period and registered a rise of 54.02 percent at $181 million, while raw cotton exports too were up by 55.84 percent.

Further, other textile items too registered a rise like, knitwear exports grew by some nine percent, cotton cloth by 29.22 percent, readymade garments by 28.32 percent and bedwear by 3.89 percent. But then, towel exports registered a fall of 10.51 percent during the period under consideration.

The April to August 2010 period saw knitwear exports growing by 20.67 percent to $928 million as against $769 million during corresponding period in 2009. The period under consideration also witnessed cotton cloth exports surging by 27.87 percent, cotton yarn by 17.80 percent, bedwear by 14.22 percent, readymade garments by 33.09 percent and towels by 7.32 percent.
