Around 10.24 million bales of seed cotton have arrived in ginneries so far, as per the report of the
Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA). Out of these, 8.637 million bales have been acquired by the spinning mills within the country and 428,000 bales have been secured by the exporters.

Last year, the unsold volume was 1.267 million bales. This year, 1.175 million cotton bales have not been sold yet. It has been estimated that the overall deficit, from last year till now, has been 1,690,428 bales which is about 16.2 percent. At present, the overall cotton crop size might surpass the 11.0 million bales mark.

Unusually high cotton prices and limited cotton supply in the local market is likely to inspire the cotton farmers in Pakistan to initiate the process of cotton sowing early next time and also to raise the acreage under cotton cultivation so that they can reap the benefits from the high prices of cotton.
