Century Place to use EcoSure for knit rental uniforms

Poole Company, a leading manufacturer and distributor of recycled and virgin polyester fiber announced that EcoSure has been selected by Century Place as the textile ingredient in manufacturing their environmental line of knit rental uniforms. EcoSure recycled fibers by Poole Company are certified by Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) as being manufactured from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) PET polymer.

Century Place produces and sells a line of rental-friendly knits sold to the industrial laundry industry. The knit golf shirts are primarily used as corporate uniforms. Mike Carter, president of Century Place, commented, “The process of making our eco-friendly apparel begins with plastic bottles, such as soft drink containers. We utilize about eight 2-liter bottles to produce a knit shirt, and this is post consumer recycled material that will now be repurposed and diverted from a landfill.”

Studies from NAPCOR determined that 1.451 billion pounds of PET were collected and sold for recycling in 2008, and the use of PCR polyester versus virgin polyester reduces energy consumption by 84% and greenhouse gas emissions by 71%. In addition, the use of a PCR product means:

• less landfill stress
• less energy consumed
• less greenhouse gases generated
• less clean water used

Carter continued, “Century Place is paving the way for corporations to make environmental choices when they clothe their employees with rental uniforms such as our knit polo shirts. By choosing a product made of post-consumer recycled material, businesses of all sizes are showing corporate responsibility and embracing sustainability.”

David Poole, president of Poole Company stated, “We are pleased to be affiliated with Century Place as a leading supplier to the textile rental business. The alliance formed with Century Place demonstrates that both parties are committed to respecting our environment and doing our part.”

Poole continued, “Not only does EcoSure allow companies and consumers to embrace the environment, but its unique production and composition offers manufacturers a leap forward in performance, color, and acceptability over other recycled fibers.” Century Place will use EcoSure in their Eco-Friendly Collection of rental shirts beginning in 2011.

For over 35 years, Poole Company has been a leading global distributor of polyester, polypropylene, and rayon fiber. The company designs, manufactures, and provides technical services for recycled and virgin polyester fiber products across major markets with an emphasis on sustainability and value. By specializing in recycled fiber, textile fibers, nonwovens, heavy denier, and fiberfill, Poole Company provides high-quality products to domestic and international markets.

Century Place Inc. has been a leading manufacturer of knit apparel since 1980. The company is a vertical manufacture of knit apparel specializing in knit polo's, tee shirts and fleece tops. Their products are provided to industrial laundries, as well as to numerous uniform, ad specialty, and corporate market wholesalers.
