EcoGeneration with REPREVE designed for healthcare industry

Cintas Corporation introduced EcoGeneration by Cintas scrubs, a first-of-its-kind, eco-apparel option designed for the healthcare industry. This new apparel line is constructed with REPREVE recycled fibers, which are woven into a wearable, comfortable scrub line.
“Healthcare is one of the largest and fastest-growing segments of our economy,” said Brent Schafer, Vice President of Healthcare, Cintas. “EcoGeneration by Cintas scrubs gives healthcare providers the opportunity to reduce their impact on the environment. Outfitting staff in eco-friendly apparel may seem like a small step towards environmental responsibility, but in an industry that employs more than 13 million workers, the potential impact is huge. In fact, for every 500 nurses outfitted in these scrubs, 11 cubic yards – or about 4 small-sized commercial dumpsters of waste – is diverted from the landfill.”
REPREVE, made by Unifi, Inc., is made from 100 percent recycled materials making it one of the most earth-friendly ingredients you'll find anywhere. REPREVE fibers are traceable, transparent and certified through Unifi's U TRUST verification program.
“By choosing products made with REPREVE, Cintas customers can be confident in the claims around recycled content,” said Roger Berrier, executive vice president for Unifi. “Repreve provides Cintas with a trusted, sustainable solution for its new EcoGeneration scrub line.”
Now, healthcare providers have a comfortable, environmentally preferable apparel alternative to traditional scrub programs. It features moisture-wicking properties to keep the wearer cool and dry, as well as Cintas' unique ComfortFLEX mechanical stretch for easy movement. A wear testing program showed 96 percent of workers preferred the ComfortFLEX over other polyester/cotton blends. Machine washable and available in special petite, tall and women's sizes, the scrubs are constructed to fit fashionably and comfortably.
