Textile testing lab accredited to ensure high quality textile exports

The Pakistan Textile Testing Foundation (PTTF) recently held a meeting to commemorate the accreditation of the Pakistan Textile Testing laboratory with the Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC), which bestowed the former with recognition as a domestic as well as international testing laboratory.
Managing Director SGS, Syed Farrukh Mazhar, while speaking at the meeting said that, the textile exporters need to go on with their efforts to boost the industry and the economy, and certainly they will achieve success.
He further said that, in view of the present scenario it is very much essential to raise the country's exports so as to cope with the current global financial crisis, and added that, accreditation of this textile laboratory would play an important part in ensuring that all the textile export from Faisalabad, the core of the Pakistan's textile industry are of superior quality.
Pakistan holds immense potential and is soon expected to get back on the path of industrial growth, he said. He also praised the PTTF members for their noteworthy accomplishment, trust and collaboration.
Further, PTTF Chairman Muhammad Yousaf also shared his views saying that, after commencement of the fresh world trade order and lifting of the ban on textile exports, excellence and standardization of the quality have became key aspects of international trade. This is very much reflected in that, the international buyers' now lay special emphasis on quality of the goods and subject their orders to approval of samples by accredited textile testing laboratories.
He said that, without direction and assistance of the SGS, earning such accreditation would have been difficult, particularly when it had became very essential to set up a high-class textile testing lab in Faisalabad, in view of the heavy charges that the Faisalabad's textile exporters were incurring to get their samples approved from the foreign labs following the buyers' demand.
But now, this newly accredited laboratory incorporated with combined technical expertise of the SGS and the PTTF, not only sets high standards in textile testing, but has also resulted in a rise in PTTF's earnings, while easing the difficulties of the domestic textile exporters as they now can get their samples tested at a standard cost.
