Domestic firms have a share of less than 10 percent in the textile market of Algeria, which is, at present, about $2 billion. This calls for restoration of several contracts which are held by the overseas companies.
The textile manufacturers of Algeria produce around 400 million linear metres of cloth which amounts to $2 billion. This takes into account the domestic apparel manufacturing firms as well which have less than 10 percent or even 7 to 8 percent share.
A major share of the Algerian requirement for textile and clothing products is imported from overseas nations. This calls for the restoration of several sectors which are solely governed by the foreign companies. This will help in cutting back the import bill of the country.
