A global expo on handloom products is going to be organized in Turkey between February 3rd and February 6th. Dr. Shankar Rao – the Handlooms and Textiles Minister will be representing the state of Andhra Pradesh in the exhibition.

While speaking to the media, the Minister recently said that the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry had given an invitation to the industries of Andhra Pradesh to take part in the global expo in order to promote the handloom products of India.

The expo will also provide an opportunity to the industries to display their hold as well as potential in the upcoming Turkish market. A number of handloom products are expected to be displayed during the exhibition.

As per the new foreign trade policy for the period 2009-14, which has been announced by Anand Sharma, the Union Commerce and Industries Minister, an effort would be made to promote 'Brand India' by means of six or even more such shows, to be held across the globe every year, which would display 'Made in India' products.

The representation of India in the expo is an effort to give proper exposure to Indian products in Turkey.
