Smart Textiles Salon & Intelligent Textiles Workshop in April

An event organised by SYSTEX in Ghent (BE) from 18 to 21 April 2011, consists of two parts, the Intelligent Textiles Workshop and the Smart Textiles Salon Vol.2.

SYSTEX is a coordination action within the 7th framework programme of the European Commission. The objective of this project is to align current research and to stimulate activities in the area of smart textiles.

The Intelligent Textiles Workshop includes a theoretical part given by Prof. dr. ir Lieva Van Langenhove (Ghent University, BE) and a practical session held by Riccardo Marchesi (plugandwear.com, IT).

As for the Smart Textiles Salon 2011, the call for prototypes is attached to this message too. 20 smart textiles prototypes from all over Europe will be shown to the audience. The prototypes will be functioning and participants will receive explanations on the working principle of the items and can try out and experience the prototypes themselves. An opportunity which shall not be missed!

Promoting students activities, is one of the SYSTEX targets. Therefore, we are organising the SYSTEX Student Award on an annual basis. Students are invited to send a report about their work on smart textiles prototypes and demonstrators to the SYSTEX secretariat.

The selected student will be invited to present her or his work at an international event in the field of Smart Textiles. With this message, we would like to emphasize this particular opportunity for students as well as increase the students' interest in the field of smart textiles and wearable electronics.
