Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) has announced the appointment of Amir Sheikh as Country Manager India.
AWI General Manager Global Business Development Sam Guthrie said this role is vitally important in the structure of the company given India is one of the giants of the global economy with significant domestic consumption and processing of Australian wool.
“I am very pleased Amir Sheikh is in this role as he will be responsible for a change of focus, from selling Woolmark licences to marketing Australian wool. This is how we best look after Australian woolgrowers' interests,” Mr Guthrie added.
Until now Mr Sheikh has been working as a Senior Manager – Product & Business Development with AWI, managing the apparel division for India & Sub-continent. He has 11 years experience in sales and business development and holds an MBA (Marketing) with a B-Tech (Textiles).
Mr Guthrie said Mr Sheikh had continually impressed the executive team with his ability to think clearly and make sound decisions, both from a strategic marketing and general business perspective.
While congratulating Mr Sheikh on his promotion Mr Guthrie acknowledged the work of Subhasis Banjere who has resigned from the role.
“I thank Subhasis for his contribution to the organisation and wish him all the best for the future.”
