China's total textile and apparel exports reached US $21.618 billion in January 2011, an increase of 38.58 percent year on year.
The growth rate accelerated by 14.99 percent, when compared with 23.59 percent growth recorded for 2010.
Among them, textile exports registered US $8.243 billion, up 47.48 percent year on year and clothing $13.376 billion, an increase of 33.61 percent.
The main reasons for the rapid momentum mainly due to; the strong momentum of global economic recovery, due to which replenishment demand is strong;
Second, industrial competitive advantage accumulated over years by the textile industry is significant.
Third, it is the low base effect brought by substantial decline of exports last year and lastly, bargaining power of enterprises has increased, due to which export unit price is climbing.
Despite a good start to the export situation, it is expected that polarization amongst domestic textile and garment enterprises will intensify in 2011.
The industry expects that the export situation will benefit from improved structure of export products, hike in unit prices, and export rebound due to global economic recovery.
The growth momentum of textile and garment exports is anticipated to continue throughout this year.
