Overall exports of products from Nepal has enhanced by 9.3 percent to touch Rs 32.84 billion over the initial six months of the fiscal year 2010-11 in comparison with the exports during the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year.
The important export items, during the initial six months of the current fiscal which is getting over in January 14, have been pashmina, handicrafts, woolen carpet, readymade garments, polyester, cotton and yarns.
The figures reveal that export of polyester yarn and other yarns has enhanced by 22.2 percent to reach Rs 2.73 billion whereas that of woolen carpet has increased by 16.5 percent to touch Rs 2.37 billion.
Export of readymade garments is also reflecting a rising trend following a long period of slow growth. It has registered an increase of 16.5 percent to touch Rs 2.04 billion over the same period under review, from a year ago.
