Toho Tenax Co Ltd, the core company of the Teijin Group's carbon fibers business, announced today that it will showcase a range of carbon fiber composite products at the International Conference and Exhibition on Reinforced Plastics (ICERP), India's largest and Asia's second-largest trade show for composite materials. The show will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NSE Complex in Mumbai from March 2 to 4.

Toho Tenax's initial appearance in the show will highlight the company's growing initiatives to develop its carbon fiber market in India.

The Toho Tenax exhibition (Stands J22 and J23) will present a wide range of advanced carbon fiber products, including:

- Composite products made with Tenax(r) carbon fiber, including pressure vessel, CT scan tabletop, automotive propeller shaft and bonnet, upper floor deck beam for Airbus A380 and thermoplastic molded material
- Tenax filament and chopped fiber
- Ultra-lightweight carbon fiber fabric
- Gas diffusion layer

India's composites industry has recorded robust growth of about 20% per annum over the last five years. The use of fiber-reinforced plastics is expected to grow continuously in fields such as energy, transportation, infrastructure, piping, wind energy and telecommunication. Toho Tenax envisions the demand for carbon fiber used in composite materials also will increase, particularly for industrial applications such as wind-turbine generator blades, construction reinforcement materials, sporting goods and aircraft.

Since establishing Teijin India Private Limited in 2007, the Teijin Group has been actively developing its Indian market, particularly for automotive/railcar weight reduction, electronics, infrastructure, new energy and healthcare.

The ICERP is a bi-annual trade fair organized by the FRP Institute of India.

Based in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, Teijin is a global technology-driven group operating in eight main fields: aramid fibers, carbon fibers, polyester fibers, plastics, films, medical & pharmaceuticals, fiber products marketing and IT businesses.
