Following All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA)'s recommendations, Faisalabad has been prioritized for restoration of gas supply for five days in a week to textile industries in the province, from today itself.
This has been done in order to safeguard jobs of thousands of textile workers in the weaving industry.)
SNGPL Deputy MD Shariq and APTMA Chairman Gohar Ejaz, in keeping with the directives issued by President Asif Zardari, announced restoration of the weekly five day gas supply to industries in Punjab, in their individual capacity.
The APTMA head expressed gratitude to President Zardari for his action of immediately restoring normal gas supply to the region and also for ensuring immediate observance of his direction.
The APTMA Chairman revealed that, the modalities for restoration of five day weekly gas supply to the industry in Punjab were worked out by a three member committee consisting of the Petroleum Secretary, Managing Director of Pepco and himself.
He further said that, as a considerable number of workers in Faisalabad were hit by the gas breaks, APTMA had recommended preferential restoration of gas supply to the region from March 4, while supply would be restored in Lahore from March 8 onwards.
Lastly, he expressed hope that the SNGPL authorities would abide by the President's directions and would not deprive the industry from the gas supply in excess of what has been decided between all the stakeholders.
