Intertek hosts "Textile Supply Chain Technologists" forum

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries around the world, recently hosted a Textile Supply Chain – Technologists Forum in Bangalore to create a platform for industry experts to exchange technical information and share best practices.
The first-of-its-kind forum was organized with the objective of forming a community of practitioners in the textile industry, where personnel come together to learn, network and share knowledge. This platform was very much needed for the industry as there are not many opportunities for technologists to come together and benefit from each other's experience.
As a third-party testing and certification organization for the textile industry, Intertek was instrumental in conceptualizing this forum and organizing it for the benefit of the industry. Going forward there are plans to host the forum once a quarter.
The forum started on a collaborative note, with participants from buying offices, export houses and the processing industry participated in an open discussion about the direction and objective of the forum and how to grow the community.
Columbia Sportswear, Walmart Global Sourcing, etc were some of the buying houses that were represented. There were also participants from leading export houses like, GoGo International, Indian Designs etc. Ram Kumar Mills was a fabric mill that was represented.
During the forum, Mr. Alok Kumar Sharma, GM, Ram Kumar Mills, gave a presentation on REACH and RSL that also included the viewing of a movie highlighting waste management.
Mr. Dilip Gianchandani, Regional Director, Intertek, said, ”These kind of forums are very much essential for the industry as this platform not only acts as a networking avenue, but also there is so much to be gained by all present as knowledge is the key factor for growth of this textile industry.”
Intertek was represented by Ranjit Sasi, Head of Marketing, Raj Kumar, Head of Sales, Mr. Venkat-Operations Manager – Audits among others.
