Sakai Chemical Industry Co Ltd (Sakai), has been suffered from the damages on the part of its buildings and manufacturing equipments located at Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture caused by the earthquakes which hit Northern Japan on March 11th 2011.

Those sites include Onahama Manufacturing Site, Yumoto Works, and Otsurugi Works. Although we did not have any damages from the Tsunami, damages on some equipments are serious.

Following the internal emergency rules, we have established “the General Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters” at Sakai Head Office, and “the Onahama Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters” at Onahama Manufacturing Site. We are now working very hard to resume our operations as soon as possible.

The amount of damage and the effects on our operating results are unknown at this moment, however we will disclose the information once it becomes clear.

Sakai Chemical has developed an innovative "Super-durable titanium dioxide D-918" for paints with high durability against the weather. In addition to the excellent durability, Sakai's unique surface treatment also gives better performance than conventional grades in glaze and hiding power, thus meeting customers' demand worldwide.
