Nicholas Hahn, former CEO and President of Cotton Incorporated is headed into the world of textile fibers once again. The Alpaca farmers and processors of North America announced the formation of a new company, Alpaca Incorporated, in which Hahn has been named CEO.

Alpaca Incorporated is a textile fiber company created to make the fiber more competitive in world markets. The company will create and manage market building campaigns designed to increase share of market, product demand, and pricing.

The company's mission is to develop a brand identity for Alpaca fiber as the softest, warmest, lightest textile fiber on earth combined with flame resistance and hypoallergenic performance. Hahn's initial plan is to add value through a brand identity program targeting the luxury end of the textile and apparel markets.

"The most valuable asset a consumer product can have is its "brand", says Hahn. “It attracts customers, it projects product quality and integrity, it stands for exclusivity and it enhances position in the category-in our case luxury apparel and home textiles." The world of luxury fiber, including cashmere, mohair, and silk is a growing category as seen recently during Fashion Week in New York and Paris.

Hahn served as CEO of Cotton Incorporated from 1980 to 1997 after serving as Senior VP of Marketing and Chief Operating Officer. Among other accomplishments under Hahn's tenure was the creation of the now famous tagline and televised advertising campaign “Cotton, The Fabric Of Our Lives”.

The familiar seal of cotton trademark seen on cotton towels, sheets, apparel and laundry detergent packaging was also part of Hahn's legacy. Alpaca products, under Hahn's guidance and direction, are expected to gain consumer and commercial recognition immediately.

Alpaca Incorporated will increase consumer awareness and appreciation of this luxury fiber and its performance characteristics through ingredient product marketing and promotion to the fashion apparel and home textile industries.

Hahn adds, "We're an ingredient product, think Intel inside a computer, Nutrasweet inside a cola, Dolby Sound inside a stereo, Supima inside a towel and now Alpaca inside a luxury sweater." It is expected that Alpaca fiber will gain market share by competing effectively at the upper end of the luxury apparel and home textile markets as well as an industrial by-product.

Alpaca Incorporated is headquartered in Old Lyme, Connecticut, located on the shore of Long Island Sound close to New York City.
