On Monday (March 21), China's markets of various textile materials witnessed a mix trend. As the traders are still in watch and wait mood, overall polyester markets witnessed little trade movement at all.

While PTA spot, semi-dull polyester chip and super bright polyester chip prices declined, MEG and PET bottle chip prices recorded a marginal change. Acrylic staple fiber 1.5D × 38mm, acrylic top 3D × 102mm and nylon 6 chip prices showed little movement and finally adjusted. CPL price increased while CDP chip was stable.

Though downstream weaving and texturizing enterprises donot have enough filament stock and some companies had to purchase goods to refresh stocks at the end of the month, PTA, PTA, MEG spot markets weakened because of a decline in futures market.

On the other hand, polyester filament market was calm due to rainy conditions resulting in lower trade volume. Polyester filament market is expected to extend consolidation in the short term. Spinning factories feel inventory pressure but they are still making a few shipments.

As the spinning factories showing no significant change in offers, prices of non-saleable polyester products showed some concessions. In addition to that actual transaction prices in negotiation provided modest benefits on offer basis. Polyester staple fiber price remained stable. Prices of viscose staple fiber moved downward.

In cotton yarn markets, the prices continued to go downwards. Though production demand of jet nylon series improved, most of the deals took place in 32s and 40s. Viscose yarn 40s/2 registered improvement in trade volume, its prices remained unchanged.

Pure polyester yarn witnessed very small trade volume and prices continued to consolidate. In polyester/cotton yarn, prices and volume both witnessed downward trend with prices of all species declined. Rayon yarn 30s is still in moderate demand, overall trend of rayon yarn market weakened. But rayon yarn market is expected to extend consolidation trend.
