"Fabric to Fashion Trade Forum-2011", a two-day event organized in New York, with support from the New York Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), and backed by the Consulate General of India in New York, showcased an excellent collection of Indian fashion designers.

A panel discussion on the achievements of Brand India was also held.

India's global pre-eminence, its unparalleled development in the field of textile, apparels and fashion and the part played by the country in moulding the contours of the global economy, were greatly highlighted during the event.

The event included a series of guest lecture on emerging markets, which remained greatly focused on the Indian market, as world's most preferred consumer market, the success journey of its textile industry and rising globalisation of its apparel trade.

A panel discussion centred on the trade, global financial challenges, development and growth prospects and also the prospects in the field of import and export.

Moreover, they also discussed the long-term prospects, strengthening human resource, FDI and measures to improve the current business atmosphere.

An exhibition of the textile and garment collection from India and a buyer-seller meet also formed a part of the event.

In recent years, India has emerged as one of the key destinations to source textiles and garments.
