Compliant Tirupur dyers to seek reopening of closed units

In the wake of an order in January from the Madras High Court to close down all polluting dyeing and bleaching units in the Tirupur cluster, the Dyers Association of Tirupur has planned to approach the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), in a bid to reopen the closed dyeing units.

Those dyeing units which have individual effluent treatment plants or are connected to common effluent treatment plants and now have zero liquid discharge will represent before the board to have their units reopened.

In its order, the court had permitted reopening of these units, subject to these units achieving zero liquid discharge norms.
