Unregistered workforce high in textile sector – Expert

Around 40 per cent of the textile workers in Turkey are unregistered, according to an expert who attended a meeting held during the Istanbul Shopping Fest.
The exploitation of labourers is, in fact, seen as a major hurdle preventing the Turkish companies from becoming global brands.
Several important aspects to run a sustainable business were cited at the meeting of textile business people from Istanbul. The most important among them was being able to create a brand. Cash management was also cited as an important aspect in maintaining sustainable business.
In the context of small and medium enterprises, it was underscored that they need to properly achieve vertical growth before actually aiming for horizontal growth.
