Vietnam imported fabrics worth US$ 1.46 billion making up 6.31 percent of the country's imports in the first quarter of 2011, according to the latest statistics released by Vietnam Customs. This is 46 percent more over the first quarter of 2010.
The fabrics were imported mostly from China (US$ 588 million), Korea (US$ 299 million) and Taiwan (US$ 259 million), which saw a year-on-year growth of 56.26%, 31.88% and 44.65% respectively.
The fabrics imported from China, Korea and Taiwan accounted for 40.25%, 20.5% and 17.78% respectively of all fabrics imported to Vietnam during first quarter of 2011.
As per the data released for the month of March 2011, fabrics worth US$ 0.616 billion were imported, showing an increase of 62.83 percent month-on-month and 48.24 percent on year-on-year basis.
