Recently, a fire broke out at the Nagpur plant of more than a century-old, Morarjee Textiles. This plant is mainly into the production and export of fabric to make dresses and headgear mainly for the Arabian countries.

The Nagpur unit mainly produces voiles, mainly used for stitching the long Arab robes. It also manufactures the 'Guthra' – a traditional headgear worn in the Middle-East countries.

The Nagpur unit of Morarjee Textiles has the production capacity to produce around one million meters of voile fabrics per month. These voiles are also used to make dresses for women who wear them below the burkhas.

The damage to the unit is limited, so it is expected that the plant will resume full production within a week. However, the fire has damaged raw materials as well as finished fabrics.
