Pakistani textile exports post admirable growth

Driven by globally high prices of commodities, Pakistan's textile exports with a rise of 32 percent grew to $11.148 billion during the initial 10 months of the current financial year, the official statistics revealed.
According to the data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS), during April itself, the country's textile exports registering a year on year rise of 46.56 percent jumped to $1.27 billion.
Industry analysts attributed this rise to unparalleled increase in the global prices of cotton, which helped the exporters to reap better returns on their exports.
As revealed by the analysts, the rise in the exports was only in terms of value which particularly was driven by global rise in cotton prices.
The ongoing trend of rise in textile exports would help the country to register record high exports during current 2010-11 fiscal year, the SBP report stated.
Cotton cloth, cotton yarn, bedwear, knitwear and readymade garments are the key textile segments which have significantly boosted sector's exports.
The July 2010 to April 2011 period saw cotton yarn exports rising by 37 percent grew from last year's $1.23 billion to $1.7 billion, while cotton cloth exports grew by 32 percent from $1.48 billion to $1.95 billion.
At the same time, knitwear exports jumped 34.48 percent, bedwear by 22.28 percent and readymade garments by 39 percent.
