Visagar Polytex to establish Rs.100 mn embroidery unit

Visagar Polytex Ltd is pleased to announce its plans to establish a Rs 100 million embroidery unit to manufacture machine-made Lehengas & Sarees at Surat. With this unit, the Company's production capacity would be more than 200 billion stitches per annum. The manufacturing unit will be located at the Industrial area at Gothan (Surat, Gujarat) for which the land has already been acquired by the Company.

The manufacturing unit will consist of 56 high speed computerized multi head embroidery machines with double sequence, looping & cording capabilities, along with designing and tailoring departments. There will be a special in-house design team to come up with latest trends and specific design requirements as per client needs. Though the unit will mainly manufacture Lehengas, plans to specialize in machine embroidered Sarees are in the off wing.

Visagar Polytex Ltd is a 27 year young Company, engaged in textile manufacturing, wholesale, retail & trading business. The Company manufactures and wholesales Hand work Sarees & Lehengas at Kolkata (West Bengal) through its large 'karigar' base. It also has an in-house Design department at Kolkata enabling 'cream of the crop' design values.

The Company has recently started wholesaling machine-embroidered Sarees & Lehengas at Surat (Gujarat) and has found a huge potential for the Lehengas- an integral part of the Indian wedding traditions. The Company has received very good response from its clients due to its constant endeavor to provide high quality designs. The Company retails ethnic wear through its 'VIVIDHA' branded retail showrooms.

The Embroidery unit, apart from its clients, will benefit from leveraging the Company's existing wholesaling and retailing activities. With this unit, the Company aims to be one of the leading suppliers of machine made and value added Lehengas in India with the brand 'VIVIDHA', which will differentiate its designs from the rest.

The Indian wedding industry is evergreen and will continue to bloom forever. Sarees & Lehengas form an integral part of the wedding scene. The Saree, as a sector, has clocked an impressive 8.8% annual growth to become a Rs. 500 Billion plus market. The humble Saree today accounts for more than one third of total consumption of apparel and household textiles in India (Economic Times, 2008. “Saree a $12-billion plus market”), (ICRA report, 2006: statistics from the ministry of textiles). The Lehenga is premium bridal wear apparel having a never ending, vast potential across the country and the product also has a tremendous scope for specialization and innovation.
