Scottish textile companies are taking part in a trade mission to Russian cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, organized by Scottish Development International.
The trade mission is specifically aimed at the home furnishing segment, as there is a huge demand for international fabrics, especially from wealthy Russians.
Shawbost-based Harris Tweed Hebrides, which has been short-listed as Scottish 'Textile Brand of the Year' in the Scottish Fashion Awards, to be held later this month, is among the companies participating in the trade mission.
Ness-based Breanish Tweed, Johnston of Elgin, Holland & Sherry, and Bute Fabrics are the other companies taking part in the mission to expand trade with Russia.
The positive image of the Scottish islands worldwide helps it to instantly attract people everywhere. Scottish hand weaving has a rich history and heritage and the mission will make an attempt to attract Russians, especially those who are sophisticated in tastes.
