Spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Industry and Production's 'Aik Hunar Aik Nagar' (AHAN) project, Rashid Ali, has revealed that the Government has started imparting embroidery training to women of Gilgit Baltistan's Hunza Nagar district.

These women are being taught modern embroidery and cross-stitching techniques with a view to make them self-reliant.

The training, Mr. Ali said, is being imparted under AHAN's KPK – a welfare project launched in association with United Nations Development Programme. Under the programme, over 300 women from flood hit Union Councils of Chalat, Bargo, Sikandarabad, Nomal, Galmat, Sheenaki, Khasnagar, Faykar, Aliabad and Hooper are being trained to boost their earnings and enable them to have a higher status in the society.

The training will not only help refurbish the skills of these ladies, but also help them learn contemporary embroidery and cross-stitching. These ladies have been provided with all the necessary tools and other things needed to successfully complete the training and acquire the skill.
