WTC 2011 forecasts an optimistic global future for India

After the inaugural session, members were felicitated. Sudhakar R. Bhave, B A Shah and M K Mehra received the Lifetime Meritorious Award. Bhave has worked in various reputed textile mills in Mumbai and has had a very wide experience in spinning. Bhailalbhai Shah has been associated with the Textile Association (India) for the last 63 years.

M K Mehra who has undertaken and completed three new textile projects is working as Director of Okhla Garments and Textile Cluster since its inception from 2004. The Industry Excellence Award was given to Prof. K.C. Tandon, a textile engineer, and an innovator who has facilitated research and developments for Indian and foreign textile machine manufacturers.

Dr M D Teli, a three time top ranker at Mumbai University and having more than 170 publications and 12 edited books to his credit, received an Academic Excellence Award. Zia Mody received the award on behalf of Zena Sorabjee. Zena Sorabjee is Chairman, Lotus Charitable Trust, Mumbai.

This institution helps needy medical patients and provides scholarships for both foreign and local studies for needy students.

With 32 session-wise industry related papers presented by various eminent Indian and international speakers which veered away from technical or machinery based papers, this year's edition proved to be both interesting as well as informative.
