Exports & imports of textile machinery surge in Q1

Exports from Taiwanese machinery industry rose steeply by 35.8 percent to touch US $4.815 billion, in the first three months of 2011.
Of this, shipments from the textile machinery sector reached $173.57 million against $125.62 million in the period between January to March 2010, up 38.2 percent.
In case of imports, Taiwan imported $7.063 billion worth of machinery in the first quarter of this year, up 23.8 percent from a year earlier.
Of which, textile machinery imports skyrocketed 52.1 percent from $67.48 million in the corresponding period of 2010 to $102.67 million in the period January to March 2011.
