Due to high cotton prices prevailing in the first few months of 2011, enterprises shifted to chemical fibers for their raw material requirements.
In April, China's imports of chemical fiber realized 56,000 tons, up 1.1 percent year on year.
Unit price of imports was US $3400 per ton, an increase of 25.4 percent year on year.
From January to April this year, China's imports of chemical fiber reached 223,000 ton, a rise of 4.7 percent year on year. Unit price of imports rose 22.9 percent year on year.
