Around 80 youths were for three weeks trained in tailoring and fashion design at Nigeria’s new tailoring hub in Osun. The youths were trained at the government-run hub located at the National Youth Development Centre in Ode-Omu by the ministry of youths and sports development under its National Skills Acquisition on Tailoring and Fashion Design programme.

The youths were trained in pattern design, sewing of suits, shirts and trousers, window blind, servicing of industrial machines and financial literacy, according to a news agency report.

The hub is equipped with industrial and computerised machines, button and weaving machines and generators.

The centre was set up to assist youths to acquire skills that would boost the growth of the textile industry in Nigeria in line with Economic Growth and Recovery Plan, said Solomon Dalung, minister for youths and sports development. (DS)
