Kaduna, Pakistani businessmen mull investment in textiles

The government of Nigeria’s Kaduna state has said that it would partner with Pakistani industrialists for investment in the country’s textile and other sectors.

Kaduna state Governor Mukhtar Yero met a delegation of Pakistani industrialists, led by Mr. Zafar Mahmood, accompanied by Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Dauda Danladi in Kaduna.

Governor Yero said the 19 northern governors would also partner Pakistani industrialists in reviving the Kaduna Textile Limited (KTL) and boost the region’s economy, News Agency of Nigeria reported.

Most of the industries set up in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s in Kaduna were textile industries, Mr. Yero said while briefing industrialists from Pakistan.

KTL belongs to the 19 northern states and the governors of these states would be interested in partnering with industrialists for revival of the textile mill, Mr. Yero said.

He assured the visiting industrialists of providing adequate security and added that the government is making efforts to address the problem of power supply.

Mr. Mahmood said the 46 industrialists, currently on a visit to Nigeria, have certain technology and technical expertise which they want to export to various countries and they are willing to transfer their technology and expertise to Nigeria and to Kaduna state.

He assured Mr. Yero that Pakistani businessmen would contribute to the development of Kaduna state and Nigeria.

During their visit, the Pakistani delegation also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kaduna Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA).
