Ikea has appointed Patrik Antoni as its new deputy country manager for India. Antoni has played instrumental roles in various departments of the home furnishings retail firm in countries like Sweden, India, Portugal and Russia for about 15 years. For the last three years, he was the country communication and sustainability manager in the firm’s Indian branch.

Ikea India’s CEO, Juvencio Maeztu informed about the appointment in a statement. Antoni will report to Maeztu and will be responsible for human resources, customer services, property, communication and sustainability.

The new deputy country manager has previously worked in multiple departments such as store operations, expansion, marketing and customer service at Ikea.

Speaking about the company’s hiring for the Indian stores, Maeztu said that the firm’s recruitment for the store in Hyderabad is in full swing and the store will employ around 500 people. About 1,500 persons will be employed indirectly, according to him.

Ikea will focus on Mumbai after Hyderabad, and it plans to open 25 stores by 2025 in various cities across India. (KD)
