Textile Exchange (TE) Sustainability Conference 2015, organised by the non-profit body, Textile Exchange at Mumbai, India from October 5-8, 2015, discussed crucial issues pertaining to sustainability in the global textile value chain like environmental, social and economical issues of sustainability in order to bring a change in the global textile industry and the world, according to a press statement released for the event by TE.

This global event, which saw a participation from 32 countries, gave an overall picture of sustainability in the textile industry currently and the likely scenario in future; solutions and ideas with respect to problems in the two big textile markets of the world – India and China; how companies can formulate and implement strategies for sustainability; environment, climate and agriculture in the textile value chain and a brief on this being high-time to start acting towards sustainability. Information on organic cotton was also disseminated, discussed and debated during the conference. The conference concluded with a fashion show and a cultural event named Flavours of India.

The conference had 300 attendees and 71 speakers. It was attended by around 230 companies for the latest insights on sustainability in the textile value chain and for networking opportunities.

“While there's no doubt that the industry leaders attending the conference benefit the most from two days' worth of networking and innovative idea sharing, TE believes that providing access to information is necessary to create change and do business better,” the press release said.

The next edition of Textile Sustainability Conference will be held in Hamburg, Germany from October 3-6, 2016. (MCJ)
