Teijin Frontier debuts indigo like synthetic fibre

Teijin Frontier said it has developed INDI5, a synthetic fibre similar to indigo in partnership with Daiichi Gousen and Mitsuke Senkou, both of which are Japanese textile mills of heavy weight fabrics and dyeing. The fabric made from INDI5, is a lightweight indigo like fabric offering comfort, is wrinkle resistant, fast drying and is also fade resistant.

The new fibre has been developed through Frontier’s polymer-modification technology, Daiichi Gousen’s weaving technology and Mitsuke Senkou’s dyeing technology.

According to Teijin, INDI5 polyester fibre is made with a highly dye and colour receptive polymer that bleeds like indigo-dyed cotton.

“It offers natural texture, and it can be partially bleached with a special process for colour variation, while special weaving technology also achieves denim-like texture,” the company added. (AR)
