Thai Acrylic Fibre, the fifth largest acrylic fibre producer in the world, will showcase its range of functional fibres at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics Show which runs October 13-15, 2015.

Thai Acrylic, which is a division of the $42 billion Aditya Birla Group will specifically target the premium knitwear and apparel segments with its performance fibre brands; Amicor and Pilbloc.

At the show, Thai Acrylic is also partnering another Aditya Birla Group company; Birla Cellulose, a producer of special viscose fibres and who will show eco-friendly fibres; Birla Modal and Spunshades.

Chief marketing officer at Thai Acrylic, Biswajit Chaudhuri said, “The global knitwear and apparel markets have experienced a fast transition to performance textiles.”

“At Intertextile, we intend to strengthen the concept of functional textiles with our Amicor and Pilibloc brands together with eco-friendly fibres from Birla Cellulose,” he added.

According to a Thai Acrylic press release, Amicor fibre has been a global leader in anti-microbial textiles since its invention by Acordis (UK) in late 1990s.

“Over the years, Amicor has created a significant presence in the knitwear and apparel industry for innerwear, denims, sportswear, home wear, socks, polo shirts, baby apparels,” the company too added.

Amicor fibre provides long-lasting freshness and comfort to consumers by preventing body odour and itching due to various bacterial growths.

Amicor also prevents fungal growth providing hygiene and care to consumers of all ages and uses the intelligent 'Late Injection Technology'.

“This technology locks functional additives inside the fibre core imparting anti-microbial durability up to 100 washes and also makes it safe and gentle for skin,” the fibre manufacturer explained.

Pilbloc brand of micro-denier anti-pilling fibre has been specifically engineered to cater to the premium innerwear and sportswear segments.

Pilbloc fibre provides excellent softness to fabrics and its superior anti-pilling performance keeps garments clean and new wash-after-wash.

Owing to its micro-cross section, Pilbloc imparts warmth to innerwear fabrics which is perfect for thermal-inners.

Pilbloc fibre is much lighter in weight as compared to cotton, wool or other synthetic fibres and additionally its superior wicking property gives a quick-dry function to apparels.

“Amicor and Pilbloc fibres intimately blend with coloured dope-dyed viscose Birla Spunshades creating an eco-friendly environment,” Thai Acrylic informed.

“This revolutionary blend of performance and fashion surely will create a significant impact in coming time,” Sachin Malik, general manager at Birla Cellulose said. (AR)
