“Since the recent sharp depreciation in Turkish lira increases the cost of production, it is normal to see a surge in prices,” Umut said.
In August, the highest monthly increase was 2.05 per cent in hotels, cafes and restaurants, while the largest monthly decline was 4.32 per cent in clothing and footwear, according to the report.
The highest annual increase was 14.26 per cent for hotels, cafes and restaurants, the report added.
