The National Cotton Council (NCC) directors for 2023 were announced at the NCC’s recent 2023 annual meeting in Dallas, Texas.

The council brings together industry representatives from the 17 cotton-producing states to establish policies reflecting the common interests and promoting mutual benefits for its broad membership and ancillary industries, the council said in a press release.

Producers elected to the NCC board during segment caucuses were David Dunlow, Gaston, North Carolina; Patrick Johnson, Tunica, Mississippi; Gary Martin, Firebaugh, California; Nathan Reed, Marianna, Arkansas; and Jon Whatley, Odem, Texas.

The elected ginners were Steve Sterling, Tuscumbia, Alabama; J Bradley Williams, Burlison, Tennessee; Larry Black, Roscoe, Texas; Matt Toste, Cantua Creek, California; and Gene Seale, Pima, Arizona.

Joseph Cain, Bakersfield, California; Ray Doroff, Memphis, Tennessee; Joe Tillman, Cordova, Tennessee; Eric Wanjura, Lubbock, Texas; and Robert Swize, Corpus Christi, Texas were elected as new warehousers.

The new merchants were John C King, III, Richardson, Texas; Ernie Schroeder, Bakersfield, California; Azeez Syed, Richardson, Texas; Tommy Hayden and Krista Rickman, both of Cordova, Tennessee.

Aaron Pena, Harlingen, Texas; Fred Serven, Chattanooga, Tennessee; Joe Gribble, Altus, Oklahoma; Amy Hopper, Overland Park, Kansas; and Robert Lacy, Lubbock, Texas were selected as the directors responsible for cottonseed.

Reid Nichols, Altus, Oklahoma; Kevin Brinkley, Lubbock, Texas; Paul Bush, Glendale, Arizona; Wayne Boseman, Garner, North Carolina; and David Camp, Greenwood, Mississippi were elected as the new directors for cooperatives.

Anderson Warlick and James Martin, both of Gastonia, North Carolina; Mike Quinn, Sanford, North Carolina; William Bowen, Jr, Inman, South Carolina; and Marc Doyon, Salisbury, North Carolina were elected as new manufacturers.

Considered the unifying force of the US cotton industry, the Memphis-based NCC aims to ensure that all industry segments are able to compete effectively and profitably in the raw cotton, oilseed, and US-manufactured product markets at home and abroad.
