The CEO of Zenitex, a textile processing unit from Surat in Gujarat, Viral Desai, is a successful and dynamic young entrepreneur who has bagged the highest level of entrepreneurial, energy conservation and environmental protection awards such as National Energy Conservation Award three consecutive times, Best Company of Gujarat (quality and environmental protection) three consecutive times, National Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur. He also has many other national and international recognitions in his kitty.

On World Environment Day 2016, Viral Desai had pledged to plant trees throughout the year. Desai’s team has succeeded to plant more than 8,000 trees and plantations in various places up to World Environment Day 2017. Inspired by the response, Desai has now taken an oath to stay actively involved in tree plantation campaigns throughout his life and this, not by only planting trees but also taking care of the same for the initial 2-3 years as required. These trees would be a treasured commodity for the future generations. Due to scarcity of horizontal space in his campus, he innovated to plant vertical green walls where last year itself they had planted 2,100 plants in these walls and 950 plants/trees around the campus.

During their plantation drive they noticed issues of water scarcity in various places. Hence, this year Desai has pledged to provide his support in installing Rain Water Harvesting system at places where it is required and also installing RO Plant at places where it is needed the most.

Due to his eco-friendly endeavours, Desai has a large fan following nationally and internationally and a number of schools and colleges from all over India come to visit his plant. During their visit, the students are made aware of energy conservation, environmental protection, green cover planting and rain water harvesting. And in return each student is made to plant a tree on their campus.

Desai believes that sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In keeping with the international trend of 360 degree sustainability approach, Zenitex has implemented the same in their business.

To fulfill the sustainability approach, Zenitex follows the elements of employee welfare, safety and health, training camps, health checkups and rewarding sincere employees and providing for education of their kids. And to reduce the environmental effect of their products and processes Zenitex uses wind mill generated electricity for their whole plant and rain water harvesting. Apart from these, they occupy themselves consistently in green cover plantations as mentioned above.
