Zund to show cutting systems at Interzum 2017

Zund, a leading textile machinery firm in Switzerland that specialises in manufacturing digital cutting systems, is set to show new modular cutting systems and the application versatility they provide at Interzum 2017, a leading trade fair for furniture production and interior design, from 16 to19 May, 2017, at hall 10.1, booth G48/H55, in Cologne, Germany.

At Interzum 2017, Zund will present digital cutting solutions geared specifically to flexible, efficient leather and textile cutting. Because of their modular design, Zünd cutters can be adapted anytime to changes in cutting or workflow requirements. New tools, modules, or automated material-handling systems for loading & unloading materials are easy to integrate. The same applies to the new cradle feeder Zünd is introducing at Interzum. This type of feeder permits tension-free unwinding/rewinding of flexible, stretchy material. Integrated edge control ensures the material is fed reliably and precisely onto the cutting surface. With this technology, even less than perfectly wound rolls can be processed without any problems.

Zünd’s user interface and workflow suite, Zünd Cut Center ZCC, is compatible with all commonly used RIPs. To make the cutting process as simple and efficient as possible, a camera-based registration system, in combination with ZCC, takes care of matching cut to print.

The key component of Zünd’s turnkey system is the Zünd D3 cutter with modular projection system and MindCut Studio. The latter is intelligent CAD/CAM software from software developer and application specialist Mind. The Zünd D3 is capable of nearly doubling the throughput. This remarkable productivity increase is largely due to the system’s dual-beam technology: two beams, each carrying up to three different modules/tools, cut and punch leather simultaneously and independently.

MindCut Studio automatically optimises the files for cutting. Cut paths are adjusted for the material and type of tool in use, which results in high-quality leather parts that are cut cleaner, faster, and with unprecedented efficiency. The powerful nesting function helps create efficient, material-saving layouts even with the most complex shapes. This significantly reduces setup and processing times, maximises hide usage, and minimises waste. (GK)
