Conference on East African Cotton, Textile & Apparel Value Chain

Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) in partnership with Kenyatta University, African Cotton & Textile Industries Federation (ACTIF) and other stakeholders is pleased to invite you to attend an East African Cotton, Textile and Apparel Value Chain conference to be held at the North Coast Hotel, Mombasa, Kenya on 1st - 4th November 2011.
The objective of the Conference is to provide a platform for Cotton, Textile and Apparel industry stakeholders to deliberate on the emerging opportunities in the changing global scenario and formulate practical strategies for the growth of this sector through investments and capacity building.
It will be an opportunity for the international and local business communities to exchange ideas for the development of a common vision for the future of the CTA sector, duly supported by government policy initiatives.
The Conference is expected to be attended by representatives of the entire value chain, including cotton farmers associations, ginners, spinners, textile companies, garment manufacturers, fashion designers, students and scholars, government institutions, international development bodies, national and international subject matter experts, etc.
Contributions will include presentations by international experts, scientific research paper presentations and workshop forum discussions by all stakeholders, under the main theme of 'Addressing The Challenges Faced by the Cotton, Textile and Apparel Industries in Africa: Opportunities for Trade, Capacity Building and Investment”. The Sub themes include:
• Developing the Cotton sector in Africa- Enhancing cotton productivity and fiber quality
• Enhancing quality, production and designs to promote trade- Through education and skill development
• Building competitiveness and branding Africa - Through investments, strategic
• interventions & Policy initiatives
